Representatives of the business sector have recently gathered in a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Pavel Filip.
The subject of the meeting was analysis of activity of the ad hoc group created by the platform Economic Council dealing with modification of the Labor Code.
According to Vladislav Caminschi, Executive Director of the National Confederation of the Employers, member of the working group, the present Labor Code has a range of shortcomings that generate misunderstandings, contradictions and difficulties in implementation. To overcome these gaps, the working group created by disposal of the Government, held 11 meetings and formulated proposals to modify 36 articles of the labor law. “During the meeting the proposed modifications were presented. Their goal is to modernize the labor law and to reset the balance between the rights and obligations of employees and employers”, said Caminschi.
The Prime Minister Pavel Filip has mentioned that it is important that the state exercise its role of regulator such as on one side to protect the rights of the employees and on the other side to take into account the interests of the employers. Such an approach would stimulate the employers to held a transparent activity, to avoid unofficial salaries and fiscal evasion, as well as will contribute to the promotion of the investments and creation of working places.
Following the discussions it was decided that the working group will continue its activity as legislation improvement is a continuous process. As a priority is the reduction of the necessary documents for employers in labor relations that are verified by labor inspectors.
The draft amendment to the Labor Code will be proposed for discussions during the National Commission for public consultation between Government- Trade unions- Employers. In parallel the document will be submitted for approval to the responsible institutions.
At the same time some of the representatives of the Associations of businessmen present at the meeting have mentioned the importance to develop a new Labor Code, according to the best international practices involving in the process local and foreign experts contracted with the support of development partners.
